Basuki Praised Islamic Teacher Performance

Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama praised madrasah (Islamic school) teacher for teaching formal education and also gives an example on a good akhlak (character building) for students.

They teach hard plus ngaji (Reciting Koran after Dusk Prayer). We’re talking about character building

“They teach hard and ngaji (Reciting Koran after Dusk Prayer). We’re talking about character building,” he said when inauguration of Regional Committee of Indonesia  Islamic Teacher Association period 2015-2020 in Tennis Indoor Senayan, South Jakarta, Wednesday (12/16).

Basuki added teacher can easily teach students on corruption threat by emphasizing on character building.

Basuki: I Become Governor Because of Good Teachers

“Our biggest challenge is facing corruption and hypocrisy. We need more role models,” he remarked.

Basuki assessed, the capability of Islamic teacher now is not less competitive than state school teacher. “We are now facing hypocritical things,” he exclaimed.

However, Basuki pledges to surely improve Islamic teacher welfare equal to state teachers. “State teachers earn Rp 16-18 million per month or minimal Rp 12 million,” he closed.
